Via blog post, Koenigsegg has announced that the final Agera RS has left the production line, finishing a run that saw only 25 units ever produced. However, it also caps off the Agera line at large, which is arguably responsible for much of the Swedish automaker’s fame and success.

First emerging in 2010 as the Agera R at a time when the world was curious as to how the fledgling company would follow up its bonkers CCX and CCXR, Koenigsegg and its founder adopted a more evolutionary stance with the car’s development and design, righting many of the wrongs that afflicted its predecessor while keeping the good bits intact.

Throughout its life, the Agera would undergo multiple procedures to craft a specialised variant, each more focused on a specific aspect of high performance. This culminated in the One:1 of 2014, which takes its name from the fact that its power-to-weight ratio translated to 1kW account for every kilogram, something that Koenigsegg would claim as justification as the world’s first ‘megacar’.

With 1,000kW (or megawatt) being extracted from its twin-turbocharged 5.0-litre V8 while running on E85 ethanol-petrol blend, it offered comparable performance the hybrid hypercars that emerged from Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren, sans the actual hybrid component.

Despite not being as powerful as the One:1, the evolution of the Agera line has ended with the RS, and through consistent refinement has managed to be a record-breaker in measurements besides raw power. In fact, the Agera RS will be shanging its hat having shattered five world records, including the fastest speed recorded by a production car on a public road (458km/h) and the fastest acceleration and deceleration time (0-400-0km/h).

Following the end of the Agera, Koenigsegg is now freed up to focus solely on their newest vehicle, the Regera, which makes use of many of the Agera’s innovations as well as some novel solutions to the idea of hybrid power, regenerative energy, transmissions, as well as a clear step forward in design for the Swedish marque.
