Kia has released the first official photos of its all-new luxury sedan - the Cadenza - ahead of its local launch next year.

The nicely-styled, V6-powered sedan makes its global debut next month at motor shows in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

Created under the direction of Kia's talented design chief, Peter Schreyer, the Cadenza will provide Kia Australia with its first full-size luxury sedan but actually replaces the dated Opirus/Amanti model currently sold internationally.

It's certainly a contemporary, good-looker and is based on the KND-5 concept car first shown earlier this year at the Seoul Motor Show. The curvaceous body has flowing lines, a wheelbase of 2845mm, and an aerodynamic shape - the drag coefficient is just 0.29cD - it comes with the option of a full-length three-part panoramic glass roof.

The interior is also very modern with sophisticated looks and nice trim. It boasts features such as a reversing camera with rearview mirror display, mood lighting and a remote 'welcome' system which turns on puddle and interior lights.

The Cadenza debuts Kia's new 'Type-N' front wheel drive platform which will underpin some other future models.

Power comes from a 3.5-litre V6 developing 213kW of power at 6,600rpm and peak torque of 338Nm at 5,000rpm. Drive is via a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia says fuel consumption is 9.36 l/100kms and exhaust emissions are 223g/km.

Australian sales are scheduled to commence in March next year but at this stage Kia Australia has not finalized exact specifications or pricing.
