Kia’s North American designed Track’ster concept is a head turner at the Australian International Motor Show (Sydney).
The Soul-based pocket rocket is making its Australian debut after appearing at international shows earlier in the year. However at earlier appearances the Track’ster was listed as a pure ‘Concept Car’ however there’s a little more pressure now with word coming through the three-door could indeed point to a future ‘Hot Hatch’ for Kia.
Officially Kia says the Track’ster point to styling directions for future Soul models, but stand-by...
The Track’ster concept is lead by huge LED lights with billet aluminium surrounds, ,assive cool air ducts and carbon-fibre trimmed lower spoiler.
Wheels definitely won’t make it into production – 19-inch HRE-K1 monoblock produced by performance specialists HRE. They give a great view of the massive Brembo brakes.
While related to the Soul, the Track’ster is a three-door (lengthened front doors) and at 1917mm is actually 127mm wider than the production version.
The tailgate (in ‘Inferno Orange’ paint) is designed to look like a backpack.
And we reckon the Track’ster’s drivetrain won’t make production in its complete form – a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder cranking-out 186kW and driving all four wheels.
Inside the Track’ster has a racing look – there’s no back seat for starters - with orange suede covered sports seats and Granite Gray leather for the steering wheel and door panels.
