Kia’s German styling guru has had his pencils flying to develop an upgraded version of the Optima sedan – already one of the better-looking mis-sizers.
The newcomer stars at the Kia display at the Frankfurt Motor Show with revised headlights, fog-lights, rear lights, bumpers and wheels. LED DRLs move from the bumper of the current model to be incorporated into the headlights – a theme which is now standard for Kia.
You can also option for four-point LED fog-lights as per the luxury Kia Quoris (not sold in Australia) and pro-cee’d GT (coming to Australia). Also on the options list a ‘Sport Pack’ which brings a black mesh front grille, unique 18-inch alloy wheels and a matt black diffuser under the rear bumper.
Inside, detail changes and new materials ramp-up the luxury in the updated Kia Optima and there’s a new instrument cluster with larger 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen. There’s also new audio systems.
On the technology front, the upgraded Kia Optima gains blind spot detection with lane change assist and rear traffic alert.
