The compact Kia Picanto seems certain for local sale and Australian green car buyers might be best advised to wait after the compact Korean was named by Britain’s What Car? Magazine as the 2011 Green Supermini.
Sold in Europe with a three-cylinder, 1.0-litre petrol engine, the Kia Picanto returns combined cycle fuel consumption of just 3.5l/100kms and emits exhaust C02 at the rate of only 99g/km – figures even many diesels can only dream of.
Mr Soo Huh, Kia’s UK boss said: “We are honoured that What Car? has recognized the enormous effort that has gone into making Picanto one of the cleanest superminis on the market. We are delighted that its package of economy, environmental-friendliness and sophistication in a value package is already appealing to huge numbers of British motorists.”
