Kia sprang a surprise at the Seoul Motor Show, whipping the covers from a new ‘fastback’ four-door concept coupe called the ‘Novo’ (from the Latin “novatus” which means new/refreshed).
A creation of Kia’s Namyang design centre in Korea, the Novo is certainly dramatic – strong shoulder lines and creases, rear-hinged doors and aluminium fender vents.
Those diamond-cut 20-inch alloy wheels feature a two-tone carbon and silver finish.
Intended as a sanctuary from the outside world, Kia Novo’s interior is simple and relaxing with leather and aluminium finishes and an instrument panel with a three-dimensional hologram display.
The four individual seats have internal inertia reel seatbelts.
Power comes from the latest version of Kia’s turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Kia says there are no current plans for the Novo to enter production….but the Korean giant has been known to spring a surprise or two.
