Nissan will boost its updated Dualis hatchback/crossover range in July with the edition of a larger, seven-seat version called the Dualis+2. Priced from just $29,990, the seven-seat model continues Dualis’ excellent value story.
Imported from the company’s plant in Sunderland, Northeast England, the Dualis+2 – like its five-seat sibling – will be available in two model grades: ST (front-wheel-drive only) and TI (front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive). All will be powered by the 102kW/196Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine and will drive via a six-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic with driver-select sequential manual mode.
Specifications mirror the five-seat models with TI versions gaining 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats and a panoramic glass sunroof amongst their extra features.
The third seat row can be folded away when not in use and the cargo area features an innovative security cover with its own built-in storage area for when all seats are required. Unlike the five-seat model, the second seat row split folds 40-20-40 offering a handy center console when only two people are on-board.
It’s certainly versatile with the second row seats on individual sliding rails. At 550 litres, luggage space is 140 litres up on the five-seat Dualis.
Overall, the Dualis+2 is noticeably larger with length increased by 211mm to 4541mm, the wheelbase grows by 135mm to 2765mm and it’s 4mm higher at 1645 mm. Inside, headroom is up by 10 mm and there is 15mm more knee room.
Even the trunk loading height is improved – 13 mm lower at 770mm – thanks to a new tailgate with a deeper window and revised rear bumper.
Externally, the side doors are larger and the roofline and window frames have been changed.
The extra dimensions and 100 kgs in kerb weight has also resulted in revised power steering and suspension calibration and the fitment of larger front disc brakes.
The extra seat row is perfect for youngsters or adults on short trips.
