Jeep Movember

Jeep has a novel way of raising awareness for men’s health issues and contributing to causes dedicated to them. Put simply, it’s a big furry moustache that attaches to the front grille of its SUVs.  It’s a little unusual, but also familiar to those familiar with Uber’s ride-sharing rival Lyft.

For USD$49, buyers can purchases these quirky ornaments from Jeep online accessory marketplace. It’s only available on their American site, mind you, and we have doubts whether it will proliferate anywhere but.

All proceeds will be channeled to the Movember Foundation, a charity that since 2003 has focuses on medical issues affecting the male population such as prostate cancer as well as mental adversities and suicide prevention, raising 650 million US dollars since its inception. The foundation has been characterised as using the month of November to encourage men to grow out their facial hair as a show of support.

The moustaches themselves, which only come in black, attach to the front grille via rubber mounts. They are water resistant and measure 86mm in width. A downside, though, is that Jeep doesn’t recommend having it fitted if you’re planning on travelling at over 60km/h. So Jeep owners can only show support for their brethren’s health at city speeds.

Until 30th November, Jeep is also helping the November initiative through a contest where anyone can post a photo of their own moustache with the hashtag #JeepStacheContest for a chance to win a new Jeep Renegade, with the automaker donating $1 for every post with the hashtag. The winner will be the entry with the most creative and high quality entry.
