Western Australia’s peak automotive body, the Royal Automotive Club (RAC), has found the Jeep Grand Cherokee is Australia’s cheapest large SUV to own.
The RAC studied ownership costs for the first five years from the date of purchase and on a cost-per-week basis the Jeep Grand Cherokee is cheaper to own and operate than Mitsubishi Pajero, Nissan patrol and Toyota LandCruiser.
With a per-kilometre cost of less than one dollar, it’s the third consecutive year the study has determined the Jeep Grand Cherokee is Australia’s cheapest large SUV to own.
The study covered costs including fuel, tyres, servicing, depreciation, interest and trade-in value after five years.
And it seems Australian are getting the message – in the 12 months which ended in June 2014, Jeep Grand Cherokee was Australia’s best-selling large SUV with more than 16,700 units purchased.
