Jaguar Australia receives 10 very desirable F-Type Project 7s, the most powerful Jaguar model ever built.
Jaguar will be bringing 10 examples of its limited run F-Type Project 7 to Australia, but they’ve all been snatched up, with each fetching a hefty $339,610. Those new owners can rejoice however, as they’re now in possession of one of the most exclusive Jaguars ever produced.
Just 250 cars were made by Jaguar-Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division, with first Project 7 debuting at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and caused everyone who saw it up close (and on screen) to get all hot and bothered.
The Project 7 roadster is, naturally, more powerful than the F-Type soft top it’s based on. Actually, it’s the most powerful production Jaguar ever built. Further fettled by the SVO division, its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine chucks out 423kW and 700Nm that’s good for a 3.9-second century sprint time and an electronically-limited top speed of 300km/h.
You’ve noticed the rear fairing that sits behind the driver – that’s an homage to the Jaguar D-Type of the 1950s, taking victory at Le Mans in 1955, 1956, and 1957. The F-Type has undergone a racing car-like diet during its metamorphosis into the Project 7, shedding 80kg off the F-Type V8 S Convertible to just 1585kg from its aluminium body.
The F-Type has just about as much go-faster kit that Jaguar could throw at it without affecting weight, with carbon ceramic brakes as standard, new front suspension knuckles, revised top mounts, new front/rear anti-roll bars, height-adjustable front/rear spring and damper units, and even an Active Sports Exhaust system that can route exhaust gases in a straight-through arrangement.
There’s also torque vectoring that works in coordination with the electronic active rear differential and the car’s onboard Dynamic Stability Control system to apply subtle braking into the inside wheel to improve turn-in response and agility.
The wheels themselves are a set of 20-inch black Storm alloys, which owners can spec to run on high-performance Continental ForceContact tyres.
