Marking a return to its roots, Jaguar unveiled the all-new F-TYPE two-seat sports coupe at the Paris Motor Show. The glorious newcomer will be available in three models – F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and F-TYPE V8 S and two body styles – hardtop and convertible.
Jaguar Australia will show the F-TYPE and announce local pricing/specifications at next month’s Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.
The first two Jaguar F-TYPE variants employ the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with outputs of 250kW and 280kW while the V8 S naturally brings the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 to the party with an output of 365kW. Drive is via an eight-speed transmission.
Jaguar’s all-aluminium two-seater draws on the 2011 C-X16 concept car for styling inspiration and includes Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs, DRL rear lights and an active rear spoiler which produces more than 120kgs of downforce.
The soft-top for the convertible version takes 12 seconds to operate and is available in one colour – black. Jaguar says it developed the F-TYPE convertible first in order that its rigidity and other chassis elements were excellent stand-alone without being a development of the coupe model.
Inside, the glorious Jagaur-style interior provides a memorable cue to the iconic ‘E-Type’ – a full length passenger ‘grab’ handle on the centre console which, in the caes of the F-TYPE helps to provide delineation between the driver’s cockpit and the passenger’s compartment.
