Jaguar’s first SUV, the F-Pace, arrives in Australia with deliveries set to commence from August 1st with a base price of $74,340 (+ORC) for the Prestige 20d variant.

The British sports SUV will compete with the Porsche Macan and the Audi SQ5, however Jaguar Australia will probably have to wait until units that span the higher echelons of the F-Pace range reaches our shores before it can locally worry the competition.

Still, though, even in Prestige 20d form, given its close relation to the XE sedan, the F-Pace should retain its sporty character and the 132kW turbodiesel engine from JLR’s new Ingenium range should provide plenty of grunt and admirable fuel economy.

However, one wouldn’t rightly be curious about the arrival of the range-topping F-Pace S 35t, packing a 280kW 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine under its bonnet. Below that, there’s the Prestige, R-Sport, and Portfolio specs.

Inside, the F-Pace’s cabin layout should be familiar to those who have experienced the Jaguar XE sedan, but with added capacity thanks to the SUV body style. There’s JLR’s new 10.2-inch tablet-style InControl Touch pro infotainment system and a 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.

To ensure traction across as many surfaces and driving situations as possible, Jaguar has fitted the F-Pace with standard all-wheel drive and segment-leading technology in the Adaptive Surface Response system borrowed from sister company Land Rover. Its balanced chassis is also augmented by technologies such as Torque Vectoring and Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics to give drivers confidence on the road and off.

In addition to the initial batch of Prestige 20d F-Paces, Jaguar Australia will also be bringing in the F-Pace First Edition in limited numbers, units that do have the most powerful engines in the F-Pace range: the 280kW supercharged V6 petrol or the 221kW V6 turbodiesel.

First Edition models also comes in special paint finishes: Causium Blue or Hacyon Gold. Although, customers can also choose the Rhodium Silver or Ultimate Black colours if they fancy. Adaptive LED headlights, gloss black fender vents, panoramic sunroof, and 22-inch Double Helix design wheels finish off the exterior flourishes.

Ian Callum, Jaguar’s famed Director of Design, during the launch of the F-Pace, said: “The all-new F-PACE is a Jaguar that customers around the world demanded that we make. The targets we set are among the most challenging we’ve ever had to deliver but I’m proud to say that the all-new F-PACE meets or exceeds every one of them.
