The term ‘Executive Car’ adopts a new meaning with Jaguar developing vehicle-based self-learning technology which include a ‘Smart Assistant’ which can check your calendar in advance and give you timely reminders.
Jaguar says providing a completely personalised driving experience will reduce driver distraction and prevent accidents.
“Up until now most self-learning car research has only focused on traffic or navigation prediction.” Explained Jaguar technology chief Dr Wolfgang Epple. “We want to take this a significant step further and our new learning algorithm means information learnt about you will deliver a completely personalised driving experience and enhance driving pleasure.”
For example, Jaguar’s intelligent car will recognise the driver by the smartphone or other device in their pocket and by the time they open the door, the mirrors, steering wheel and seat settings will all be set to the individual’s preferences and not only will the cabin be pre-set to the desired temperature, it will be intelligent enough to change if it’s snowing or raining.
After learning your schedule the self-learning car will know if you’re going to the gym and have a preference for a warmer in-car atmosphere on the way and then a cooler one on the way home and can even automatically provide your desired seat massage settings to ease the post-workout muscles.
The ‘Smart Assistant’ will review your schedule in advance and, for example, send a note to your smartphone to remind you to pack your golf clubs as it knows you’re going out for 18 holes.
Or the ‘Smart Assistant’ will predict your next destination according to your schedule and intelligently pre-set the navigation including adjustments required according to real-time traffic information.
