Due in Australia shortly, Hyundai has launched its innovative three-door Veloster Coupe in Britain.
Interestingly, UK pricing for the Hyundai Veloster is almost identical to the racy Honda Civic Type R which locally retails for $39,990.
Photos don’t really do the Hyundai Veloster a favour – in the flesh, Hyundai’s sporty looks muscly and purposeful with a very well-done rear-end featuring nicely styled quarter panels, nice 17-inch or 18’-inch alloy wheels and wraparound tail-lights. Of course its innovative feature is a three-door layout (two doors on the kerbside).
Power comes from Hyundai’s 1.6-litre direct injection petrol engine which delivers 102kW and fuel consumption of 4.9l/100kms.
Drive is via a six-speed manual transmission or Hyundai’s first dual-clutch automatic. British versions feature Hyundai’s Bluedrive technologies – Intelligent Stop & Go and low rolling resistance tyres to boost fuel economy.
Hyundai UK has launched the Veloster in two model grades – that standard version scores 17-inch alloy wheels and a seven-inch touchscreen media centre while the up-spec ‘Sport’ model adds 18-inch alloys, heated leather seats, a panoramic sunroof and alloy pedals.
Look for the Hyundai Veloster in local showrooms late this year.
