Sonata Replacement Looks Good

In a few months this vehicle will replace the venerable Sonata as Hyundai's mid-size sedan.

Code-named the YF, the good-looking newcomer was jointly crafted by Hyundai's stylists at home in Korea and at the company's California (USA) design studio.

Hyundai says the new design highlights its new 'fluidic sculpture' design language. We think that means it looks aerodynamic.

With six airbags, ESP stability control, Brake Assist and Hill-Start Assist Control, Hyundai hopes for a strong showing in the international safety ratings.

Hyundai Australia has released only scant details but is predicting big things for the new model - claiming segment-leading safety features, outstanding performance and exceptional fuel economy.

Pitched against vehicles like the Mazda 6, Subaru Liberty and Honda Accord, the current Sonata has scored points with attractive sub-$30K pricing, extensive standard equipment and nice four cylinder petrol and turbo-diesel engines.
