Hyundai’s Santa Cruz turned heads in Detroit.
Hyundai says the Sport Truck concept was designed to appeal to ‘Millenials’ who are now the second-largest new car buying group in North America.
“The Santa Cruz crossover truck concept meets the unspoken needs of a growing Millenial lifestyle we call ‘Urban Adventurers’, explained Hyundai’s Mark Dipco.
That lifestyle is increasingly in the tight confines of cities so the Hyundai Santa Cruz sport truck runs a drawer-like sliding cargo bed which can be expanded for load-carrying or minimized for commuting and parking when empty.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine driving all four wheels (snow-boarding and wake-boarding are among the favoured sports of ‘Millenials’).
