Just unveiled at Korea’s Busan International Motor Show, Hyundai’s good-looking ‘MD’ model compact sedan is scheduled for Australian introduction next year.
Continuing the seemingly endless avalanche of ground breaking new products from Hyundai (and sister company Kia), the MD is powered by the company’s latest ‘Gamma’ GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) engines and – for the first time – drives through a six-speed automatic transmission.
Designed for optimum fuel consumption and reduced emissions, the new GDI engine lineup features dual continuously variable valve timing, a variable induction system and pioneering anti-friction coatings. Hyundai is claiming no less than class-leading fuel efficiency and eco credentials for the newcomer when it arrives next year.
While Australian specifications and pricing have not been revealed, the MD model displayed at the Busan Motor Show featured HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights, LED rear combination lamps, heated rear seats, puddle lamps and a colour TFT LCD information screen in the console.
Once again, there’s no disputing the styling job – the MD looks great and is set to join a handsome lineup when it appears next year.
