The Seoul Motor Show is obviously a focus for the Korean brands and Hyundai grabbed the headlines this week by wheeling-out a mid-engined coupe concept.
Named the ‘RM15’ (Racing Midship 2015), the two-seat concept is based on the Veloster RM shown in Busan last year and is intended to showcase Hyundai’s prowess with advanced materials.
It runs an aluminum space frame with body panels in carbon-fibre painted in the company’s pale blue motorsport colour scheme.
Power comes from Hyundai’s turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine mounted transversely behind the cabin and ahead of the rear axle (air inlets ahead of the rear wheels provide cool air.
With 220kW/383Nm on-tap, zero to 100km/h takes just 4.7 seconds.
Inside is a WRC-style roll-cage and the RM15 is clearly a motorsport vehicle rather than a road going two-seater.
