A wagon version of Hyundai’s excellent i30 will join the model range nest year and is previewed this week at the Australian International Motor Show (Sydney).
Called the i30 Tourer, Hyundai’s newcomer was designed at the Korean giant’s European studio in Russelsheim, Germany and vehicles coming to Australia will be manufactured at the company’s plant in the Czech Republic. Of course the overall style continues Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy.
The Hyundai i30 Tourer displayed in Sydney is actually a British market vehicle but specifications are very similar to the Australian version.
While the wagon version shares the same 2650mm wheelbase as the Hyundai i30 hatchback, the newcomer adds 185mm in total length and its 528-litre luggage capacity is up by 150-litres. Hyundai i30 Tourer continues the current trend by providing additional secure storage boxes under the cargo floor.
The vehicle displayed here in Sydney is powered by Hyundai’s direct injection 1.6-litre petrol engine delivering 99kW/164Nm and driving through a six-speed automatic transmission.
