Reinforcing its play for increased European presence and dynamic ride and handling for future models, Korean giant Hyundai has opened its new European Test Centre, located at Germany’s famed Nurburgring circuit.
The 3,622 square-metre facility represents an investment of €6.63 million and is in addition to Hyundai’s European R&D centre in Russelsheim, Germany.
Hyundai’s durability tests at the Nurburgring simulate over 160,000kms of driving in less than six weeks, including 480 laps of the full Nurburgring circuit, often in treacherous wet conditions.
With 73 corners and uphill and downhill gradients the historic German circuit must be conquered for manufacturers to stake a claim for high-performance chassis dynamics.
