Hyundai i40 Wagon On-Sale Late 2011

Hyundai’s elegantly-styled i40 wagon made its Australian debut in Melbourne ahead of local launch late this year.
Photos are deceiving, the Hyundai i40 is a genuine mid-size wagon designed with sales success in Europe in mind. Design and engineering work was done at Hyundai’s European styling studio in Russelsheim, Germany.

The European stylists have put their own spin on Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy and the result is a classy look with excellent proportions and on-road presence. The i40 sedan is scheduled for global launch later this year.

However word from Hyundai Oz. indicates the i40 sedan isn’t headed downunder and the local product planners reckon the i40 wagon makes perfect sense for i45 buyers looking for a wagon.

But the good news is Hyundai is bringing the sharp-looking i40 wagon to Australia loaded with kit including heated and reclining front and rear seats and an active demist system which automatically clears windscreen mist. There’s also a heated steering wheel which may not prove too popular with dealers in Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Full local specifications and pricing will be revealed closer to local on-sale.
