In a comprehensive survey of vehicle operating costs conducted by Australia’s motoring clubs, the Hyundai i30 hatchback (2.0-litre petrol automatic) and iMax people mover (2.4-litre petrol automatic) have topped their categories.
The survey found the Hyundai i30 SX 2.0-litre automatic five-door hatchback required just $157.30 to operate per week. Hyundai’s i30SX 1.6-litre turbo-diesel automatic finished third in the same survey, rated at $160.48 per week.
In the family-dominated people mover category, the Hyundai iMax 2.4-litre petrol automatic was rated the cheapest to operate at $231.51 per week.
Interestingly with lower interest rates and reduced servicing costs, the survey found on average vehicle operating costs this year are around 1.6 per cent les than in 2010.
