The 2014 WRC has kicked off in Monte Carlo with last years championship winner dominating proceedings. Hyundai Motorsport have had a decent showing finishing sixth and eighth in their first outing.  In the shakedown (a.k.a practice) Volkswagen factory driver Sebastien Ogier dominated the session with a time that was over one second quicker than his nearest rival.

Young gun and 2103 championship runner up Thierry Neuville was only sixth fastest in for his new Hyundai Motor Sport team.  Some people around the stage believed that Hyundai i20 was lacking torque and power, with traction of the line also causing a problem.

The first full stages will held tonight Australian time and many expect Ogier to romp to a commanding lead in the first full day of competition.
