Hyundai announced that it will be adding Apple CarPlay support to several of its model ranges, and it’s not just their premier passenger car offerings that will be getting the cake to themselves.
From now on, Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) will be offering the smartphone interface compatibility for its Accent, iMax Series II, and iLoad Series II vehicles, giving native integration with iOS devices on the move in a safe, voice-operated, and intuitive way. And with their manufacturers’s list price unchanged.
Additionally, owners with the current iteration of the Accent, iMax, or iLoad with compatible infotainment systems are now eligible to have Apple CarPlay support added in as an upgrade at no charge at their nearest Hyundai dealership, which should take around 15 minutes.
This includes Hyundai Accents built from December 2015 and onwards as well as selected variants built between December 2014 and November 2015.
Andrew Tuitahi, Senior Manager Product Planning at HMCA, said: “The beauty of Apple CarPlay is that it is powered by your iPhone, it is dynamic and connected and therefore, easily updated,” says Senior Manager Product Planning, Andrew Tuitahi.
“When Apple improves these systems, by tweaking performance, adding functionality, or enabling new apps, they will immediately be available in your vehicle.
“Nowadays, we are always connected and we live in that connected ecosystem all day, everyday – when we are walking, on the train, on the bus, at work and at dinner. It hasn’t mattered where we were … except in our cars. Until now, the car has been the one black spot. Availability of new smartphone technologies changes that.
“Apple has created a protocol that allows Hyundai to give drivers safe, efficient in-car access to their iPhone’s ecosystem.”
