‘SR’ is Hyundai’s sporty/high performance moniker and now the Veloster SR Turbo and i30 SR have been joined by new a new stablemate – the Accent SR hatchback. The newcomer has been launched simultaneously with the updated Accent Elite sedan.
The Accent SR replaces the Accent Elite hatchback in the updated Hyundai Accent lienup and gains the more powerful direct-injection 1.6-litre petrol engine driving through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Shared with the Accent Elite and Veloster, Hyundai’s ‘Gamma’ GDI engine delivers 103kW at 6,300rpm and peak torque of 167Nm at 4,850rpm.
Underneath, the Hyundai Accent SR rides on locally-tuned sports suspension and 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the specification front, the sporty Hyundai Accent model scores projector beam headlights with DRLs, a rear spoiler and cruise control.
