Honda's NeuV Concept Is Emotional

In the run up to the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Japanese carmaker Honda has released a computer rendering of its latest concept car, dubbed the ‘NeuV.’ The NeuV is designed as an “automated EV commuter vehicle,” and is part of Honda’s greater ‘Cooperative Mobility Ecosystem’ theme for their showing at CES next year.

We suspect that the design of the NeuV is disinteresting on purpose (the Rinspeed Oasis has nothing to fear), as the headlining feature on the little EV is its “emotion engine.” No, it doesn’t run on tears. The NeuV’s ‘emotion engine’ is designed to provide the car with its own emotions, which is supposed to illicit a deeper bond between man and machine.

At the time of writing, Honda has not detailed exactly how the ‘emotion engine’ works, or whether or not it will respond to the emotions of drivers and passengers, so we’re not certain on its exact function. But what we are certain of is that it’s really quite strange, and we’re excited to see it break cover at CES 2017 next month.

Should this be the Honda of the future, be wary if your neighbours start calling their NeuV ‘her.”
