Honda Releases First Pic Of V6 Hybrid F1 Engine

Here it is – the first official photo of the Honda engine which will power the McLaren F1 team from next year.

The F1 Rumour Mill is in constant overdrive these days and the ‘Coconut Telegraph’ is saying Honda’s turbocharged V6 Hybrid engine will be powering more than just the McLaren team in 2016 (cue McLaren Team Boss Ron Dennis popping a few valves himself at that news!).

Honda has shifted its F1 engine development to the R&D facility in Tochigi, Japan and is now conducting full-fledged bench tests with the engine, turbocharger and KERS (energy recovery system) all attached.

At the same time, Honda’s new F1 engine squad is now up-and-running at Milton Keynes, England.

Having Honda back is good news for F1 and good news for Honda – the Japanese giant has been floundering without a clear brand image since it quit F1 after the previous turbocharger era.
