Holden’s all-new Malibu mid-size sedan has been revealed at China’s Shanghai Auto Show.
The Malibu is a global car for General Motors and the Malibu on display for Chinese customers carried a Chevrolet badge.
At first appearance, the Malibu looks set to deliver Holden a more credible entrant in Australia’s competitive mid-size market segment where last year Ford’s excellent German-sourced Mondeo outsold the lackluster Holden Epica by more than two-to-one.
We reckon that could change in 2012 when the Holden Malibu goes on-sale. With its wide stance, broad shoulders and American styling cues, the Malibu carries with it some influences from the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette – all-up it looks a major improvement over the somewhat dowdy Epica.
Inside the theme continues with further American influences such as beefy center stack, lots of space and high quality, soft-touch tactile materials.
Expect the all-new Holden Malibu to debut ‘Dowunder’ around the time of the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney
