Holden wheeled-out the all-new Barina hatchback in Melbourne – months ahead of its October on-sale date.
A global car for General Motors (Chevrolet-badged versions are already sold in North America and Europe), Holden is taking credit for the new barina’s design as it was crafted by Holden desiger Ondrej Koromhaz while on assignment to GM’s Korean studio.
Stylistically the new Holden Barina range shares cues with the current Barina Spark and Cruze models. The stance is wide with wheels pushed to the corners and the headlights/tail-lights are purposeful.
Inside – like the Barina Spark – the look is minimalist/modern and the dashboard is themed like a motorcycle with compact, round gauges.
Power will be from Holden’s 1.6-litre petrol engine, driving through either a five-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic.
And safety gets a green tick with six airbags standard.
