Holden has released pricing and specifications for their 2017 Astra Sedan weeks prior to its planned launch in early July. Prices will start from $21,990 drive away (or $20,490 plus on-road costs) as turbocharged engines and more tech headline the new car’s arrival.
Known elsewhere as the second-generation Chevrolet Cruze, this Astra Sedan does share a fair bit with the Opel-developed Astra hatch that arrived late last year, though it wasn’t exactly developed side by side. The range will start with the base LS and top out with the LTZ, while the inbetweeners comprise of the LS+ and LT.
All models will be powered by the same turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine that sits under the bonnet of the lower tier Astra hatches, producing a familiar 110kW and 245Nm and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, though only the entry-level LS will come with a six-speed manual as standard.
ANCAP recently tested the Astra Sedan and gave it a full 5-star safety rating, fitted as standard with six airbags, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, reversing camera, and even cruise control.
Alloy wheels are standard and start at 16-inches, though moving up the range does bring either 17- or 18-inchers along with other features such as lane keep assist, forward collision alert, and blind spot monitoring. Luxuries such as push start, auto park, automatic wipers, sunroof, leather seats, and satellite navigation also become available.
Speaking of which, every Astra Sedan will use a central touchscreen to handle infotainment duties, a unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, measuring 8-inches in the LT and LTZ or 7-inches in the LS and LS+.
