The startlingly fast V8 Lexus IS F – one of the best cars Car Showroom has tested – has scored some major upgrades for 2011.
Heading the list is a complete rework of the suspension with new front springs, revised damper rates, new bushes and a revised camber angle. Lexus says the changes reduce dive and squat under acceleration/braking, reduce NVH and improve the ride quality.
Inside there is a new instrument panel with a rev indicator on the tachometer to help IS F drivers optimize gear shifts. There is also a more supportive drivers’ seat, carbon fibre center console inserts and a new black/orange optional trim colour.
On the outside, look for Daytime Running Lights (DRL), blacked-out headlight lenses and engine cover plus a new colour (Starlight Black).
The 300kW/500Nm V8 engine is now Euro5-compliant.
“The changes to IS F deliver greater compliance during everyday driving but also greater performance for those times when owners take their Lexus to the track,” revealed Lexus Australia’s Tony Cramb.
