Haval has begun its renewed attempt to woo Australian buyers in the more mainstream space of medium-size SUVs with their newest model, the H6. The fresh offering is loaded with kit that we’re not used to seeing for the price, which is now pegged at $29,990 (special launch driveaway, until December 31, 2016).

For that amount, the Haval H6 comes with rather a lot as bundled in with the Chinese SUV such as 17-inch alloys, LED daytime running lamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, 7-speaker audio system, and dual-zone climate control.

A more expensive ‘Lux’ trim can be specified which adds larger 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable and heated front/rear seats, 8-speaker audio system with subwoofer, Xenon headlamps, and a passenger-side curbside camera. It’s priced at $33,990.

Both version will receive the same powertrain configuration, with power coming from a 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 145kW/315Nm that’s mated to a Getrag-sourced 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It certainly is a lot of performance and standard equipment available, representing a welcome value proposition to local customers and will surely give some pause to other medium SUVs in the market such as mainstays like the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota RAV4

“The H6 is perfectly positioned to build on the strong foundations we have created in our first year in the market. We now have a competitor that offers a fantastic proposition for Australian customers in the medium SUV segment – one of the biggest in the country,” said Haval Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer, Tim Smith.

The all-new H6 will come with a five-year 100,000km warranty which includes roadside assistance.
