Holden will be keeping a close eye on developments in Korea following the announcement that parent company General Motors will launch its Chevrolet brand into that market from next year.
The move is in partnership with GM Daewoo Auto & Technology – a company which enjoys existing partnerships with Holden.
To herald Chevrolet’s Korean launch, GM showed a 2010 Camaro at the recent Busan International Motor Show. The American muscle car will be part of the Korean sales launch next year.
“This will help GM Daewoo increase our sales and market share in the domestic market while generating additional revenue, strengthening our employees’ job security, creating new jobs and resulting in additional investments in Korea. We regard it as a key to our long-term success,” revealed GM Daewoo Auto & Technology CEO, Mike Arcamone.
With much more diversification in its model lineup, Chevrolet now has more vehicles suitable for the Australian market and many more in the pipeline. The Korean initiative could be a stepping stone for future product sourcing for Holden.
