Australian ute buyers should look carefully at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show as Chevrolet wheels-out the updated Colorado Rally Concept.
First shown at the Buenos Aires International Auto Show and technically a Rally-Raid concept vehicle, Chev’s Colorado Rally Concept does provide some further pointers to the next Holden Colorado design.
This time a double cab design, the Colorado Rally Concept shows-off large, contemporary headlights and the new dual-port front grille which are expected in final production.
And although the show car runs 18-inch competition wheels, special suspension and fibreglass wheelarch extensions, it does highlight the broad truck-like stature expected as the new Holden Colorado shapes-up against the similarly tough-looking new Ford Ranger.
Also on the Chevrolet stand in Frankfurt will be the petrol-electric Miray coupe convertible which first appeared at the Seoul Motor Show.
The Miray is a stunning looker and GM says its appearance cross-references 1960s GM cars like the 1963 Monza SS, 1962 Corvair Super Spyder and early Corvettes. The wedge-shape body is made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP) and the wheels (20-inch fronts/21-inch rears) are made of aluminium carbon-fibre composite.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, combined with twin 15-kW electric motors. Drive is normally to the front wheels but can be switched to the rear.
