American Ward’s Auto World ’10 Best Engines’ are recognized as the pinnacle for engine designers and Hyundai’s direct-injection ‘GAMMA’ 1.6-litre engine has been honoured this year.
Hyundai’s ‘Tau’ V8 (powering the Genesis in North America) is a previous ‘Ward’s 10 Best Engines’ honouree.
With direct injection, dual variable valve timing, variable induction and electronic throttle control, Hyundai’s 1.6-litre technical masterpiece delivers 103kW at 6300rpm and 166Nm at 4850rpm.
Look for the 1.6-litre ‘GAMMA’ engine to power Hyundai’s innovative Veloster coupe when it arrives in Australia early next year.
