With power claimed to be in excess of 600kW.
German tuner Gemballa is best known as an aggressive, performance-focused bastardiser of Porsche vehicles, but it seems that that might be a phase they intend to grow out of. This week, the company has put out a press release teasing its first-ever bespoke high-performance vehicle, and boy does it seem interesting.
The release is peppered with all the usual keywords like “luxurious,” “radical,” and “pure.” Gemballa’s boss has also clarified that the car would be a very aggressive thing to behold (and probably to drive), and will feature a powertrain putting out over 800hp (or about 600kW).
Thing is, that wasn’t all that Gemballa did this week. With the teaser, they also opened the doors to outside investors for the first time in nearly a decade, making clear that this next phase of the brand’s life will require significant capital injection. It’s unclear thus far if this is Gemballa’s second chapter, or if the upcoming supercar will be yet another very-limited, very-niche tuner-driven models like the Hennessey Venom GT, for example.
What was also left unclear is the kind of supercar that Gemballa will build – based on the sketch, we can tell that it’s rear-engined and likely rear-driven, which some say suggests the utilisation of a Porsche 911 platform, something that Gemballa would find very familiar.
Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see what the boys at Gemballa will come up with once given free reign over their own car. The company promises that the production of this supercar will commence in 2022, which means a peek at a production model in the first-half of next year.
