Former Top Gear Crew’s New Show Finally Has A Name

After a long period of naming limbo, the Amazon-funded project/TV show featuring the boys from Top Gear - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - finally has a name.

The Grand Tour.

Or 'GT' for short.

The name itself speaks about the premise, which doesn't follow what the boys are necessarily used to under their BBC paymasters. It was tweeted by Mr Clarkson yesterday, which now seems to be the preferred way announcements are made about everything.

It's still a little hazy. But what it essentially will be, revealed through a series of tweets by the three presenters, is an episodic show with a new location for each.

The 'studio' they once occupied is replaced by a big tent, which follows them to each new locale as a sort of large mobile base of operations.

What they actually do at said location is still up in the air although we expect the same brand of scripted and non-scripted antics that we know them for.

Former Top Gear Crew’s New Show Finally Has A Name

In mid-2015, it was announced that the former Top Gear trio would be setting up a new show to continue what they had started on the BBC after the broadcasting powerhouse decided to not renew Jeremy Clarkson’s contract after he assaulted a member of the production team during a shoot in Yorkshire, northern England.

In the time since then, the BBC have assembled a new line-up of hosts to continue Top Gear and are slated to premiere the show’s new season some time in May.
