Ford has boosted the lineup of its excellent Ranger pickup with the launch of the range-topping Wildtrak model.
Priced at $57,390 (manual) and $59,390 (automatic), the Ford Ranger Wildtrak comes comprehensively equipped with standard features including a reversing camera (the image with guidelines displayed in the rear-view mirror) and satellite navigation. Headlining the Ford Ranger Wildtrak’s traffic-stopping looks is a new exterior colour – ‘Chilli Orange’.
In fact the styling of the Wildtrak variant is very clever with a unique front-end, colour accents for the side mirrors, door handles and side vents plus 18-inch alloy wheels, sports bar and roof rack.
Inside are leather/cloth seats with ventilated sections trimmed with ‘Wildtrak Orange’ contrast stitching and a carbon-fibre look for the centre console.
Power comes from Ford’s powerful 3.2-litre TDCi Duratorq engine with 147kW/470Nm and 9.4l/100kms fuel consumption.
Addition of the Wildtrak brings to 21 the number of Ford Ranger variants. Ford says while there have been some supply problems as its previously flood-affected plant in Thailand resumed full production, launch of the Wildtrak model confirms things are back on-track.
The Ford Ranger is a Car Showroom favourite – we love the Aussie-designed styling and its driving dynamics are the best of the pickups. Towing capacity is outstanding at 3,350kgs and the payload capacity is one tonne.
