Ford was the last manufacturer to hint about newcomers debuting at the Geneva Motor Show – and it’s the high-performance Fiesta ST200 which has the ‘Blue Oval’ fans excited.
Headline act is the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine which delivers 147kW/290Nm (an extra 11kW/30Nm on overboost).
That’s a fair bit more than the standard Fiesta ST and the driving dynamic is further boosted thanks to a shorter differential final drive ratio.
So zero to 100km/h takes just 6.7 seconds.
The Ford Fiesta ST200 also gains sharper steering, firmer suspension, a 15mm reduction in ride height and bigger brakes.
Inside are terrific Recaro sports seats and a unique ‘storm grey’ colour scheme.
Ford Australia has not released any local details on the hot Fiesta (the company recently announced Mountune high-performance upgrades are available locally which can lift output of the Fiesta ST to 162kW/320Nm).
For the record the Ford Fiesta ST and Focus ST are firm Car Showroom favourites and we reckon both make compelling arguments to being the best in their segments.
