Ford’s excellent Fiesta compact car gains significant changes for 2011, including the launch of the sedan version.
The facelifted model, code-named WT, goes on sale late this year and includes the introduction of Ford’s latest 1.6-litre DV6 diesel engine as well as the six-speed dual-clutch Powershift automatic (the latter fitted only to petrol-powered Fiestas). Ford says the new diesel is good for fuel consumption of 4.4l/100kms (the remarkable 3.7l/100kms ECOnetic diesel remains in the lineup).
The range-topping, Fiesta Zetec hatchback will not appear in showrooms until early next year and as well as the exterior/interior enhancements included across the range, the sporty Zetec scores upgraded suspension and unique front sports seats.
Safety is also boosted with Dynamic Stability Control standard across the range.
The Fiesta sedan will be available in entry-level CL and mid-spec LX versions. It’s a modern, European design with steeply-raked four side windows, deeply-sculptured bodywork and a stylish rear end with modern taillights.
