Ford’s all-new Everest SUV has been launched to the world in China.
Based on the Ford Range ute, the Everest – like the Ranger – was designed and developed by Ford Australia for the global market.
Indeed, www.carshowroom.com.au has been to the Anglesea Proving Grounds in Victoria a number of times during the past 12 months and every time we’ve seen prototype Ford Rangers undergoing testing.
Everest has also put in the ‘hard yards’ in testing in the Outback so when the new model goes on-sale next year, no doubt, like the Ranger, it will reap the rewards of that Aussie input.
Ford says the all-new Everest SUV (to be made alongside the Ranger ute at the Ford plant in Thailand) will be sold in Asia-Pacific markets and Africa.
The Ford Everest will run the same drivetrains as the Ranger ute, making it a rival for the likes of Isuzu MU-X and Holden Colorado.
Everest will be one of two new SUVs for Ford, joining the Edge (surprisingly chosen over the Explorer as the Territory’s replacement) in the lineup alongside EcoSport and Kuga.
And that, in anyone’s book, is an impressive lineup.
