The Kia Sportage compact SUV – a favourite with the Car Showroom team – has been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating in the latest round of barrier testing by the European Euro NCAP organization.
Kia’s Venga compact SUV (only sold In Europe) joined the Sportage in garnering five-star safety honours.
In fact the Venga was originally tested by Euro NCAP earlier this year and scored a four-star rating. Not content with a less-than-top-shelf performance, Kia’s engineers reworked the Venga and the revised model – which started production in September – was resubmitted for this latest roud of testing and delivered a maximum five-star performance.
“In the first instance, Kia’s engineers strive to design vehicles that make it easier for drivers to avoid hazards, thanks to good visibility, powerful braking and excellent road holding,” explained Benny Oeyen, Marketing Director for Kia Motors Europe. “However, in the event that an accident is unavoidable, Kia owners also have peace of mind that they and their passengers are protected by the very best passive safety technology.”
