Launch of the all-new Accord kick-starts a busy 12 months for Honda.
Next-up is the long-awaited diesel version of the CR-V mid-size SUV. Honda’s top-selling CR-V gets a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel – and in extra good news, an automatic transmission, and will be launched late this year.
Following a few months later is the all-new Odyssey people mover. Honda’s North American Odyssey was shown at the Detroit Auto Show, but Australia gets the Japanese version which will appear in production form at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year ahead of Australian launch early in 2014.
Then comes the all-new Jazz compact, probably quarter one in 2014. Honda needs the new Jazz to fire like the current model an this will require a price tag unchanged from its current $14,990 starting price.
“And that will be a challenge,” explained Honda Australia’s sales and marketing chief Stephen Collins. “The strong Aussie dollar to Japanese Yen relationship is making life hard for all Japanese brands at the moment.”
As for new model number five, Honda Australia says it’s too early to announce details. We reckon the all-new compact SUV is at very short odds to be this vehicle.
