Nissan Australia’s casting plant in Dandenong Victoria has sent its first shipment of components to Nissan’s Japanese assembly plants for fitment to Nissan electric vehicles sold throughout the world.
The locally manufactured parts include the inverter case, inverter water jacket and water jacket cover for the Nissan LEAF.
Nissan says the breakthrough deal to supply components to Japan is worth $160-million to the local casting plant business.
“To see ‘Job Number One’ for the electric vehicle parts production finished and exported is a landmark moment for the Nissan Casting Plant,” revealed Nissan Australia chief Bill Peffer. “These electric vehicle parts are part of more than two million components and accessories made at the Nissan Casting Plant each year, contributing to the overall growth of success of Nissan both in Australia and globally. Everyone at Nissan Australia is excited that we are playing such a tangible role in the production of zero emission electric vehicles.”
