The European media has shifted into overdrive with speculation Ferrari’s new entry-level model will be called the ‘Dino’.
Even those only casually familiar with the ‘Prancing Horse’ brand will know this a return of an iconic Ferrari nameplate (actually the name of Enzo’s eldest son who tragically died aged 24) – used for the famous mid-engined V6-powered sports car.
Whatever the name eventually is, Ferrari’s all-new entry-level model is eagerly awaited as this will be the car for the Scuderia to challenge the Porsche 911.
While previous Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo wasn’t keen on taking the company down this route, new chairman and Fiat-Chrysler superemo Sergio Marchionne has pushed to green light for this all-new model.
Word is the all-new Ferrari will be a mid-engined twin-turbo V6 – thus the perfect vehicle to be badged a ‘Dino’.
