Forget the rest, the star of the Geneva Motor Show was the all-new Ferrari 488 GTB – launched exactly 40 years on from the original 308 GTB.
Power comes from Ferrari’s new turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with 493kW/760Nm on-tap and driving via an F1 style seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Also straight from F1 (well prior to 2014 anyway) is the aerodynamics – how does a ‘blown’ rear spoiler sound? Sounds brilliant to us.
There’s also an aerodynamic underbody with vortex generators like the racing Ferrari 458 GT – the combo delivering up to 325kgs of downforce at 250km/h.
Underneath is a new version of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control System (SSC2) which this time controls the active dampers as well as the F1-Trac and E-Diff systems.
In the looks department, the Ferrari Styling Centre has again excelled – awesome curves and a nod to the 308 GTB in the form of the scalloped rear three-quarters.
