Hooray – another 12-cylinder Ferrari! Don’t get us wrong, the Ferrari 458 Italia is probably our favourite car at the moment, but the all-new F12berlinatta is beyond brilliant.
Due for unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show (and already on-sale), the F12berlinatta is the ultimate Ferrari (so far) in terms of power and performance.
It’s compact and powered by Ferrari’s 6.3-litre, 63-degree V12 developing 544kW/690Nm. Drive is via a dual-clutch transmission and – here’s the good bits – the red-line is a staggering 8,700rpm and zero to 100km/h takes just 3.1 seconds.
The all-new F12berlinetta naturally now holds the road car lap record at the Ferrari track (the latest model always does!). It took just 1min 23 secs for the newcomer to lap Fiorano.
Naturally there’s a lot of aerodynamic complexity in the gorgeous design (drag Cd is just 0.299) – including an ‘Aero Bridge’ on the bonnet to channel air to the sides and Active Brake Cooling which pops-open guide vanes for air to cool the carbon-ceramic brakes only when required. Styling was done by Ferrari and Pinanfarina.
Inside is the usual Ferrari excellence – oozing Frau leather and hand-crafting with even the air-vents finished in carbon fibre and aluminium.
Expect the Ferrari F12berlinetta to debut locally this year at the Australian International Motor Show (Sydney) with sales commencing early 2013.
