Lynk & Co Teases A Connected Crossover

Lynk & Co has published a new teaser for what appears to be their first car and, in spite of the very limited view, seems to show a compact crossover. It’s difficult to surmise any further details apart from perhaps guessing it will be powered, in part or fully, by electricity.

What’s more is that we suspect this new Geely off-shoot to be focused more on vehicle autonomy and ride sharing solutions as opposed to being a vehicle brand in the traditional sense. After all, it claims to be ‘The Future of Mobility’.

In this most recent teaser, the looped video (shared on Tictail, an online social marketplace) depicted a bicycle, a smartphone, and a cloud in addition to previewing the car, which is due for an October 20th debut.

This suggests that this new vehicle will be more intelligent and integrated into our digital lives than most, and leaves room to guess at its self-driving potential. To delve further is nearly impossible given the company has pretty much stayed under the radar for the entirety of its existence.

That said, its associations through sister company Volvo may reveal some shared technology, powertrains, and underpinnings.

Lynk & Co isn’t a brand you’re likely to be familiar with. Geely is another, although a larger portion of a given audience might have already heard of it. Volvo is an automaker everyone should already be known to all.

As of 2010, Volvo Cars became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese company that also designs and manufactures cars under the Geely brand. And Geely recently launched Lynk & Co, which is now teasing this upcoming car.

Being a compact crossover, and its front end resembling the fourth-generation Kia Sportage, it could have some shared components with the upcoming Volvo XC40 and built upon the same Compact Modular Architecture as the new Swede.
