Volkswagen’s slick Touareg SUV (a Car Showroom favourite) debuts an updated 2013 model year lineup from next month and sadly the 3.6-litre V6 petrol model has been jettisoned.
The good news is extra specification across the range and Touareg’s handy entry-level 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel (150TDI) retains its $62,990 price tag. The mid-range V6 TDI goes up by $2,000 to $78,990 while the range-topping V6 TDI 4XMOTION rises by $1,000 to $83,990.
Among the additions, the entry-level Volkswagen Touareg 150TDI scores a standard reversing camera with the image displayed on a 6.5-inch colour screen.
Other updates include Bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs, new 18-inch alloy wheels, upgraded Vienna leather seats with electric adjustment and pneumatically adjustable backrest side bolsters and new head restraints.
Mid-range Volkswagen Touareg V6 TDI also gets the reversing camera and lights and also adds 20-inch alloy wheels and air suspension with adaptive damping as standard.
Range-topping V6 TDI 4Xmotion gets a host of external body enhancements inclduign dual chrome triangular exhaust tips.
And all 2013 Volkswagen Touareg models add Volkswagen’s ‘Driver Fatigue System’ which analyses driver behavior and sends an alert if changes indicate fatigue.
