Cruze Hatch Boosts Holden’s Local Manufacturing

Introduction of the Cruze hatchback model and a new export program has seen Holden boost its Elizabeth, South Australia manufacturing facility.

During the past 12 months, Holden has created 300 extra jobs and ramped-up its in-house component manufacturing thanks to the installation of 13 new production tools.

Production of Commodore (long and short wheelbase) plus two Cruze models now runs to 480 cars per day over two shifts. Holden now builds 51 models on two chassis platforms, six body styles, nine variants and both left and right-hand drive.

Supplier companies have also benefitted – for example the rear glass for the Cruze hatchback comes from MHG Glass in Geelong, Victoria.
